To work with teams, visit Community>Teams from the menu. This page lists all your teams, as well as the other teams on RunPartner.

Joining a Team

From the Teams page (see above), find the desired team and click its “Request Join” button You can also search for teams in the search box at the top left of the page. Depending on the team membership type you will either be added to the team automatically, or once the officers approve you.

Creating a Team

To create the team click the  Create Teams link in the Team Actions board from the Community>Teams page.  Your team will be created with you as the coach.  Now send invites to your friends to join RunPartner and the team!

Team Membership

  • Public:  Any RP member can join team automatically by requesting membership
  • Rquest:  Prospective members must request to join, and the officers then approve them
  • Invite:  The team officers must send invitations to prospective members to join

Team Privacy

  • Public:  Team page can be viewed by all RunPartner users.
  • Private:  Team page can only be viewed by its members.

Editing Teams

Only the officers of a team can edit a team. All teams properties can be changed from the Team Actions panel found on the top right of the respective team’s homepage. If you cannot see this panel when on the page of your team, you are not an officer.

Team Officers

Team officers are the captains/coaches of a team. When a team is created, that person is the coach by default. This individual can then approve other members and set their membership on the team to:

  • Captain
  • Coach
  • Member
  • Alumni

An officer can demote themselves to Member or Alumni, however there must always be at least one officer on a team. Thus the last remaining officer on a team cannot demote themselves.

NOTE: The founding officer will remain permanently an officer on the team.

Team Officer Provisioning

Team officer status is the sole responsibility of the team and its founding user.  Current officers may modify the privileges of other members.

Removing Members

A team officer can remove a member from the team through the team options. This member will no longer be a team member, however they may reapply for membership in the future.

For a member to quit a team, the coach must remove them.

Team Notifications

Team notifications will be sent for the following reasons:

  • Membership Request:  If a team has request for new membership, the officers will all receive a copy of the request
  • Membership Approval:  Once approved, the requester will receive a notification

Team Invitations

Officers can invite friends to join RunPartner and the team by sending Team Invites.  Invitees can be either existing members or new members to the site. Once accepted, the person will be added to your team automatically. The form to send a team invite can be found Team Actions panel on the respective team page.

There is presently no ‘disband team’ feature, though it is under current consideration. We’ll update this post when it becomes available.
