We are continuing to add to the growing list of sites compatible with the RunPartner importer. Our newest addition is fitness.strands.com.

Fitness Strands has recently posted “The Strands Fitness training log will be shutting down on December 30, 2011. It has been a very fun and exciting last three years and we wish you continued success out on the roads and trails.”

For all those Strands Fitness users without a home: We invite you to try out RunPartner!

Account creation and data import should take less then 10 minutes. You should see many familiar features as well as a few new ones on RunPartner. We also welcome you to make connections with the many runners already using RunPartner.com

The importer will allow you bring:

All activities

All routes (name, notes, distance, points)

All shoes

Account info

User profile info

Note: The RunPartner Fitness Strands Importer brings in much more than the Exporter offered on the Strands site, and you don’t even have to open Excel!

The importer in the settings page which is accessible through the icon in the menu. Read more about importers here: Importing Your Data

Is my information backed up?

Over the last decade some websites have suffered catastrophic data loss and have been forced to close. To protect the longevity of your logs and data, RunPartner makes a backup of everything several times a day and then compresses and encrypts it before sending it to three backup datacenters across the country. If that’s still not enough, you can use the AutoBackup feature to have your data emailed to you quarterly for safe keeping!

Can I get my data out?

Unlike the draconian policies of Facebook and other activity tracking sites, which prevent the export of user data, at RunPartner you can always pack up your information and head West. Simply use our Export feature to get all your logging goodness in a nicely packed file. You can then open and explore it in Microsoft Excel.

RunPartner Dominates Ragnar!

Despite our best efforts, Team RunPartner.com reined supreme at the 2011 D.C. Ragnar Relay. With an overall time of 20:02:55 for the 198.1mi course, we broke the course record by over 1 1/2 hours. We also bested second place by nearly 3 hours. We started in dead last position, 9 hours after other teams started, and still caught all but 7 of the 283 teams. It was domination.

The success was nevertheless difficult as vagaries beset us:

Running the 12 man race with 11 men

Fog causing mere 10 foot visibility, plus very heavy rain

Two men getting lost and losing 35 minutes

Very muddy roads causing 30 vans to get stuck

Half the team with intestinal disruptions

Not sleeping for 50+ hours

Very poor nutrition and hydration

Overall it was madness barely contained, but after a little sleep and a few meals, we’re all happy we did it. Hooray!

P.S. A special thanks for our tireless drivers Jenna and Mike!

UPDATE 6/18/2011

Danny won Stage 2 today in 2:17:34, winning by a 12 minute margin over the 18 mile course. This positions Danny well to win the overall even with the final stage on Sunday. However muscle trauma accrued during the first two stages will be present in full force at the start of Stage 3 (20 miles), so it promises to be no walk in the park. Keep it up Danny!

Original Post 6/17/2011

RunPartner’s very own sponsored runner, Danny Mueller, won the first stage of the Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race. Today’s leg, 22 miles in 1:53:37 positioned Danny in a dominant lead for the series. Two more stages of the mountain endurance race remain, but Danny is strong and steady. Stay tuned for more news about Danny and other RunPartner athletes.
