January 6th, 2011

RunPartner allows the following permission states for sharing your information:

  • Me: Only you can view your information*
  • Me + Friends: Only you and anyone you have made a friend connection with can view your information
  • Me + Friends + Teams: You, your friends, and anyone you are teammates with can view your information

To edit your settings, visit  Settings which can be found under the  icon in the menu.

NOTE: The default setting is Me + Friends + Teams.

NOTE:  All members are searchable through Search, but no additional information is available if privacy setting has been set to Me.

DISCLAIMER:  As always, don’t keep private information like SSNs, bank routing numbers, nuclear launch codes, and illicit materials on RunPartner in the highly unlikely, but still possible chance that the Chinese government assails the site. Do keep PRs, favorite runs, and trophy shoes on RunPartner as the U.S. State Department advises them to be no use to foreign states.

Streaking Board

Streakers

Streakers

No, it’s not the governing body of streaking. It’s new way of quantifying dedication. While counting your mound of miles can show off to your peers, now you can show off your uninterrupted daily toil over theirs.

Now you can track pedal progress using either the Mileage Board or the Streak Board. Click the Streak or Miles button at the bottom of the board to change your default board setting.

Information Privacy Policy

Will you sell my information?

There are many websites out there that will do anything to make a dime.   Some of these sites sell user information to fourth and fifth parties to get around their promises not to sell information to third parties.

So, to make things clear:  RunPartner will not sell your information to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th…nth parties.

Is my information secure?

Despite many recent high profile hacking cases that resulted in loss of user data,  RunPartner takes rigorous steps to protect your information.  Your password is never stored in an easily recoverable way (like Gawker’s were) and we will not make boisterous taunts of hacker groups.

Is my information backed up?

Over the last decade, some websites have suffered catastrophic data loss and have been forced to close.

To protect the longevity of your logs and data, RunPartner makes a backup of everything several times a day and then compresses and encrypts it before sending it to three backup datacenters across the country.  If that’s still not enough, you can use the AutoBackup feature to have your data emailed to you quarterly for safe keeping.

Can I get my data out?

Unlike the draconian policies of Facebook and other activity tracking sites, which prevent the export of user data, at RunPartner you can always pack up your information and head West.  Simply use our Export  feature to get all your logging goodness in a nicely packed file. You can then open and explore it in Microsoft Excel.

What if RunPartner goes down?

We assure our users that we will keep RunPartner and their logs available as close to 100% of the time as possible.  To ensure this, the functionality of our site is monitored continuously by an outside firm. If the site is down for even a minute, our on call technicians receive instant texts and emails to get it back up. According to our 2010 statistics, RP has been up 99.8% of the time. Compare this to Let’sRun.com and Facebook which have been up 99.2% and 97.2% of the time respectively for  2010.
