Preview Routes on Hover
What if you wanted to see someone’s route without leaving their log to view it? Just hover!
Hover over a route name in Log and a thumbnail of the route will pop up. Now you can decided if your friend’s Morning Loop is the same as your Morning Loop, or if she just stole the name.
Click the route name open it interactively in RPMaps,
Update
RP’s map utility, RPMap, works, but is not the state of the art. We’re sorry about that. We’re in the thick of making it the best.
This week we added:
AutoRouting
We usually run on roads, and so do your routes. Click on the map and RPMap will find the shortest path along the road between those two points. To undo an AutoRouted segment, hit undo
. Disable AutoRouting with the options checkbox (in right panel).
AutoCentering
Panning is a pain. Now, clicking near the edge of the map advances it in that direction. The closer you click to the edge, the more it will pan. Disable panning with the options checkbox (in panel on right).
Advanced Undo
Use the undo button
to undo all sorts of things. Clear the route (
) by accident? Don’t like that AutoRoute segment? Shouldn’t have erased that point (
)? Just hit undo and no body will ever have to know about that gaffe.
Of course there is more to come, but we were just so excited we had to roll these out for you. Expect a complete overhaul of the interface soon.
Let us know what you like and what is not quite cooked yet.
Update
Teams, Friends, Networks… there is a lot of information out there! We know you love all your friends on RunPartner equally, but perhaps you login daily just to see what a few good friends are up to…
My Top 7 is a list seven (or fewer) of your friends that you want to follow assiduously. Use the
Top 7 filter button in the Activity Trail to see activities from these individuals.
Setup
One simple step to setup. Visit Settings > Top 7 and select up to seven of your favorite friends. Piece of cake.
NOTE: If you no longer have viewing access for a member of your Top 7, they will not appear in your Activity Trail.

New custom distance options
If only the race directors would get it together on those races distances, but they won’t. We did! To enter a competition distance we don’t already have, you can make your own custom distance. Hurah!
He’s how:
- In Add Activity select Run Type > Competition »
- Select your competition from Competition Name
- Select Custom Distance from Competition Type
- Enter your custom distance in Distance and select the units
That was easy. Distances can be km or mi.
Custom distances will show up as “Custom Distance” on your log and Competitions page.
NOTE: custom distances are not presently analyzed in the Competitions page due to their non-standard length.
Update

Now with Autologin!
It’s hard to take a break from RP, but sometimes you must leave the computer to run. Now, when you come back, you don’t have to log back in.
Checking the “Remember” checkbox on the login screen now remembers you for all supported RP browsers. The best part… visit any RP page when you are not logged in, and we’ll automatically log you in, AND then send you back to that page. It is like you never left.
For security purposes, you will need to login with your password once every 14 days. But that’s a small price to pay.
NOTE: If you click logout, you will need to login again.
