Linking Feature

February 26th, 2010

The RP code simians have been busy with a key feature. Now you can  “Link” an activity to another user. Here is an example:

I run with Bob this morning. I log my run and “Link” it with Bob. Now, when people view my activity, they can see that my RunPartner for that activity was Bob. Furthermore, when Bob goes to log his activity, he is now told of the “Link” and can prefill in his activity with parameters from that run such as duration and distance.

This feature will let you:

  • Save time when logging
  • Know who others run with
  • Track who you run with the most
  • Search for run by who you ran with

For complete details visit Linking documentation.

Update

Please Reload

February 25th, 2010

We upgraded the code behind the site and need you to reload! Just clear your browser cache and then hit the reload button and you will get the newest files.

Some users may notice that modal popups such as Bug Reporter are no longer functioning. This means you still need to clear your cache. If you still have problems use the Contact page to let us know.

Update

Export & AutoBackup

February 15th, 2010

Exampled Exported Data

You want to protect your log data and so do we at RP. Should you feel the need to leave us, we want you to have all your stuff that you worked hard to achieve.

Now you can export all your goodies through the Settings>Log Importer & Exporter. We looked at many compression algorithms and formats and settled on a zipped Comma Separated Values (.csv) which can be easily opened with Excel™ or NotePad™. Windows, Mac and Linux users should have no problems opening these up and exploring their data.

Furthermore, even though your log data is backedup, encrypted, and sent to three datacenters around the world daily for safe keeping, we thought you might want to have a backup of your own… automatically. Now the Backup Quarterly by Email checkbox will email you a compressed copy of your log every three months to provide even greater peace of mind.

With these new features, nothing short of thermal nuclear war will come between you and your precious logs.

NOTE: Backups are sent on the first day of a new quarter from auto_backup(at)runpartner.com. Make sure your spam filters do not reject them.

Update

Ellipsification

February 12th, 2010

Ellipsification Example

There are some problems you like to have. Users logging more activities/comments/ratings than you can show is one of them.

Now on all RP boards, if the number of items showed exceeds the maximum for that board, informative ellipses marks (…) will appear at the bottom of that board to notify you that it has been double stuffed. For most boards you can click the View All link to visit another page to view all the content.
