Since we added the Streak Board we realized some people are not streaking because they are down and out. Being injured is a depressing ride on its own for a runner, but having everyone else thing you are a slacker makes it worse.
Now, if you have a current injury, your streak board will display to the world that your not really a slacker, but that you have been placed on injured reserve and the reason for it.
NOTE: Private injuries will not be displayed in this fashion.
The RP code simians have been busy with a key feature. Now you can “Link” an activity to another user. Here is an example:
I run with Bob this morning. I log my run and “Link” it with Bob. Now, when people view my activity, they can see that my RunPartner for that activity was Bob. Furthermore, when Bob goes to log his activity, he is now told of the “Link” and can prefill in his activity with parameters from that run such as duration and distance.
We upgraded the code behind the site and need you to reload! Just clear your browser cache and then hit the reload button and you will get the newest files.
Some users may notice that modal popups such as Bug Reporter are no longer functioning. This means you still need to clear your cache. If you still have problems use the Contact page to let us know.
You want to protect your log data and so do we at RP. Should you feel the need to leave us, we want you to have all your stuff that you worked hard to achieve.
Now you can export all your goodies through the Settings>Log Importer & Exporter. We looked at many compression algorithms and formats and settled on a zipped Comma Separated Values (.csv) which can be easily opened with Excel™ or NotePad™. Windows, Mac and Linux users should have no problems opening these up and exploring their data.
Furthermore, even though your log data is backedup, encrypted, and sent to three datacenters around the world daily for safe keeping, we thought you might want to have a backup of your own… automatically. Now the Backup Quarterly by Email checkbox will email you a compressed copy of your log every three months to provide even greater peace of mind.
With these new features, nothing short of thermal nuclear war will come between you and your precious logs.
NOTE: Backups are sent on thefirst day of a new quarter from auto_backup(at)runpartner.com. Make sure your spam filters do not reject them.
There are some problems you like to have. Users logging more activities/comments/ratings than you can show is one of them.
Now on all RP boards, if the number of items showed exceeds the maximum for that board, informative ellipses marks (…) will appear at the bottom of that board to notify you that it has been double stuffed. For most boards you can click the View All link to visit another page to view all the content.
Let’s link your RP log to your Google Buzz account. You’ve likely heard of Google Buzz in Gmail. It is pretty impressive. Just in case you want to join to get on the Buzzwagon, her’s how to link it up.
What you’ll need:
1 RunPartner Account
I'm Buzzing!
1 BlogSpot Blog
1 Gmail Account
Assuming you’ve collected the ingredients, her’s how.
1. Setup Email Blog Posting in BlogSpot
BlogSpot Steps
Login to your BlogSpot account. Open Settings>Email & Mobile
Whenever you add and activity now, it will be posted to your blog after a 5 minute delay (to allow corrections). You can repost at anytime using the button in the calendar day view.
Publish on BlogLink
NOTE: Private activity values, and private comments will not be posted to the bloglink.
The power of the internet is not just being able to access your data from anywhere. The power is searching all those runs/comments/competitions/friends instantly to glean epiphanies or combat boredom.
Now search using all features listed on the search pages and from the many View All links throughout the site.
Networks: Find Local RunPartners by clicking a Network link
You may only search the materials of those RunPartners who have allowed it through their Privacy Settings. Don’t worry about it though, you should be able to see your friends’ stuff.
You love the Flash charts. They are inherently Flashy and fun. But what fun are sexy charts if you can’t touch them? That’s just frustration.
We are testing a new click-able chart paradigm, so let us know what you think about it. Check out the Year chart in your profile to get a feel. Soon all chart bars will be directly linked through to their parent objects. As soon as the RP developers get some sleep though.
RunPartner users might be coaches, varsity runners, or recreational runners. These individuals have different needs and use a log in different ways. To allow you to customize how you use RP, you can now choose your default landing page.
Visit Setting>View and change the My Default Page… option to one of the following:
Home: The standard home page
Profile: Your profile page
Coaches: The coaches page
Team Name: The teams page of the respective team
Note that the default remains the home page. Enjoy!
